   Listening

The main purpose of the IELTS Listening test is to test a candidate’s readiness to deal with actual situations abroad which require perfect Listening. The test is in four secions which is a mix of all types of lectures, conversations, talks which the student may fae in the real time scenerio. The main areas of Listening are Social situations which deal the daily life activities, single speaker non-academic & academic situations and multi-speaker non academic and academic situaqtions.

The test consists of four sections. Sections 1 and 3 are dialogues and sections 2 and 4 are monologues. There are 40 questions to be answered and the test lasts for 30 minutes. Ten minutes are provided at the end of the test to transfer your answers to the answer sheet.

Be careful with the accent of the speaker. The accent of the speaker is primarily British. Get used to how the words and numbers are pronounced. Keep a track of how names of people and laces are pronounced and get familirized with all those words. If you make a mistake in the spelling while writing it down, you will get the answer wrong.

The other mian point in IELTS Listening is to follow the instructions carefully. The intructions give the basic idea of what to do and waht not to do in the examination. If the instruction is "Write no more than three words",then you must not write more or else you will loose your marks. The instruction differs each time they may not be the same for all sections and sub-sections.

Get your self Familiarize with the topc even before the actual examination starts. Notice all the pictures and graphs and other visible pictorials to get a pre hand information and idea of the topic so that you can answer the questions carefully. The more comfortable you are with interpreting the data represented in them, the easier your exam will be.

The main important point in IELTS examination is to read the questions carefully before attempting the question. The question may require two answers in few cases and it may laso need some aditional informtion. By reading the question carefully you would know what you exactly need to do.
